New Exhibition at dot-art Gallery: Landscapes of the Imagination.

At a time where we could all benefit from a little escapism, dot-art’s new exhibition, running from 17th June – 14th August, invites you to walk through a world of imagined landscapes created by artists Carol Miller, Brigitte Watkinson, Natalie Gilmore, and Simon Cooper.

Carol Miller is a multi-award-winning artist who creates imagined rural and urban landscapes which she uses to weave emotional and psychological narratives. Fascinated by skies and how they reflect moods, Miller’s paintings often capture atmospheric, dream like skies, bounded with emotion.

Brigitte Watkinson was born and raised in Bavaria and now lives and works in Cheshire. With colourful collage elements, she creates a layered, tactile narrative exploring feelings of despair, hope, endurance and optimism. Watkinson works reflexively across different mediums which enables her to create a visual language that articulates what otherwise may remain unseen and unheard.

Growing up and living in the Liverpool city region Natalie Gilmore takes inspiration from her surroundings, painting through a vibrant hued lens. With abundant use of colour, Gilmore creates a joyous enigmatic version of our region.

Northern artist Simon Cooper’s work collapses the boundaries between realism and surrealism. Simon’s landscape paintings reflect his sense of hope for the future despite the inevitability of life, channelling the profound enlightenment, illumination and empowerment that has filled his life over the years.

The dot-art Gallery can be found at 14 Queen Avenue, Castle Street, Liverpool, L2 4TX.
Current opening times: Thursday – Saturday, 10am-6pm

You are invited to join the artists for a Virtual Private View of the exhibition on Thursday 17th June from 5-6pm, via Zoom. Each artist will share more about their work and inspiration, followed by a video tour and Q&A. All welcome, register here: https://landscapes-of-the-imagination.eventbrite.co.uk
