HC:FIT Ninja Training, founded by former Taekwondo World Champion and 2014 Commonwealth Games Bronze Medalist Henry Cookey, has flourished since receiving a £10,000 Small Business loan provided by Regional Growth Funding together with Unity Bank and managed by River Capital in October 2023.
Having been established in 2016, the funds have enabled transformative improvements to the North Liverpool-based gym.
Eye-catching new signage now beckons passers-by, while its interior renovations have created an inviting atmosphere for members to enjoy.
These enhancements, combined with amplified digital marketing efforts, have propelled HC:FIT to new heights. Membership has continued to increase, with gym-goers drawn to the unique ninja-warrior style training as seen on the popular television series Ninja Warrior UK in which Henry competed three times.
With further membership capacity available, HC:FIT has expanded its offerings, introducing a premium service tier with specialised programs designed to assist members’ across Liverpool in achieving their goals.
Two newly hired coaches have joined the team, ensuring personalised attention and support for every member. With more sessions available throughout the day, HC:FIT caters to busy schedules and empowers members to train at their convenience. The impact of these developments is clear: monthly turnover has increased, and is reflective of HC:FIT’s thriving community.
On the progress, River Capital’s Andy Jones commented:
“We were thrilled to support Henry and HC:FIT Ninja Training. The gym’s transformation and growth have been fantastic, thanks to Henry’s passion and innovative approach. The new signage, renovations, expanded services, and dedicated team have created a welcoming environment for the community.
We’re proud to play a role in HC:FIT’s ongoing success and look forward to their continued impact on North Liverpool.”
Henry Cookey, founder of HC:FIT Ninja Training, shared his thoughts on the gym’s progress:
“I’m incredibly grateful for River Capital’s support in helping HC:FIT reach new heights. The loan has enabled us to make impactful improvements, from our eye-catching signage to the fresh, modern interior
Seeing our membership grow and our community thrive has been the ultimate reward. HC:FIT is more than just a gym; it’s a place where people can challenge themselves, have fun, and feel supported on their fitness journey. We’re excited to continue growing and making a positive difference in the lives of our members.”
From its launch in 2016 with a Start-Up Loan to its current success, HC:FIT has solidified its position as an example of accessible, community focused engaging fitness. The 4,000-square-foot facility, complete with a ninja-style obstacle course, stands as a testament to Henry’s vision.
