Grant Scheme Helping Employers Recruit Young Talent

Liverpool City Council’s Ways to Work Programme (UKSPF) offers businesses across the city a Young Person’s Guarantee Employer Grant to support unemployed or economically inactive 18–24-year-olds into a job.

Delivered by Liverpool in Work, the scheme supports employment costs up to £3,000 across the first six months of an eligible person’s employment.

Eligibility criteria include:

  • The employer must offer a minimum 6-month employment contract
  • The role must be paid at National Minimum Wage (based on the young person’s age) — not the apprenticeship rate of pay
  • The contract must offer a minimum of 30 hours per week to claim up to £3k (part time hours e.g. 15 hours will be considered and grant offer reduced to £1,500)
