Nugent raises nearly £100,000 to ‘Make Memories’ for the most vulnerable in society

Liverpool City Region’s leading social care charity, Nugent is celebrating after raising nearly £100,000 at its annual Gala, which will go towards ‘Making Memories’ for the most vulnerable children and young people in the North West.

The annual Nugent Gala was held at the Titanic Hotel, Liverpool on Thursday 7 November, 2024 and with support from headline sponsors Krol Corlett and Butterworth Spengler Insurance Brokers, was a night to remember, raising £92,320.

The Nugent Gala fundraises for ‘Our Future Now’, a community service and wholly charitable arm of Nugent’s operations, which is focused on alleviating inequalities and opportunities through four key themes: Accommodation; Poverty Alleviation; Memorable Experiences; and Employability.

‘Memorable Experiences’ was the focus for 2024 and the huge sum of money raised will now provide life-enriching experiences for children and young people that Nugent supports, creating lasting and positive childhood memories.

Nugent’s ongoing vision is ambitious yet simple; to provide a lifelong pathway of care and support for individuals and communities in need, from birth through to end of life.

Speaking about the success of the Gala, Jo Henney, CEO of Nugent, said:

“Tonight was about more than just raising funds, it was about raising awareness for those who don’t have the same opportunities to create life’s joyful memories.

“Thanks to our supporters, sponsors, and guests, we’re able to ensure that many more people will be able to make memories they’ll cherish forever.
“The generosity of the Liverpool community is unmatched.”

Simon Krol, Director of Krol Corlett, commented:

“The goodwill in the room always blows me away at this event, much different to anything else I attend throughout the year.

“The funds raised will make a real difference to some of the most vulnerable people in our community.”

James Jaycock, Director of Butterworth Spengler, added:

“This evening’s success speaks to the power of collective action.

“We are proud to support Nugent and its mission to create lasting memories for everyone in our region.”

Over 350 guests attended the carnival themed event hosted by The Guide’s Jay Hynd and Gemma Cutting, with live performances from the Andrew Curphey Theatre Company, Deja Soul, vocalist Aimee Claire, and late-night entertainment from DJ Dave Seed.

Emotional stories from the young people that Nugent supports inspired donations alongside prizes including a trip to Venice, exclusive experiences at Fazenda, Pullman Hotel, Gaucho, Liverpool Football Club and Everton Football Club, and a ring-cleaning service from Wongs.
Nugent has already identified the date for next year’s Gala on Thursday 6th November at the Titanic Hotel, Liverpool.
