Hugh Baird University Centre in Bootle is offering free training to help adults in the region get their computing skills up to scratch.
This free, one-day Digital Skills Summer School is available to anyone aged 19 or above, a UK resident and living in the Liverpool City Region. The Summer School takes place on Thursday 30 June 2022 at the University Centre’s campus on Stanley Road.
It is estimated that 11.3 million people in the UK lack basic digital skills and 8% of adults in the UK have no basic digital skills at all. Understanding how to operate a computer is a vital skill to stay connected in work and life.
Colette Mawdsley, Assistant Principal – Higher Skills at Hugh Baird University Centre, said the Summer School is perfect for anyone who wants to improve their confidence when interacting with computers and for those who have little, if any, experience with them:
“For some people, this can be a barrier. If you have little to no computer operating experience, it can seem incredibly daunting at first.”
“Our Digital Summer School is designed to give you confidence in living and working within a digital world. Accessing a computer is more important than ever: from buying online, accessing entertainment to writing a CV. It is also a vital skill to employers.”
The Digital Skills Summer School includes sessions on basic computing skills, file management and how to operate Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Teams.
