The UK has left the EU, and the Brexit transition period has ended. There are new rules for businesses doing business with the EU from 1 January, and you need to take action now. This bulletin is issued by?the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy and provides the latest information for businesses.

Travelling to Europe for work? Business Travel: An explainer document

A short explainer document has been produced to help you understand the new rules that are in place for business travel to Europe for work. These rules apply to you if you are travelling for work in Europe regardless of whether you are attending a conference or providing services.

High Value Trader Support for New Border Processes: The Field Force Support Programme

The Field Force Support Programme is offered by the Cabinet Office to support businesses that trade over £250,000 of goods with the EU each year.

The support available ranges from invitations to specialist events, 1-to-1 query resolution, more access to business case studies and sector-specific guidance from policy experts.

UPDATED: New documents about the Trade and Cooperation Agreement between the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and the European Union: Three new supporting documents have been made available:

  • Letter from European Commission Vice-President Šefcovic proposing extension of provisional application of UK-EU Trade and Cooperation Agreement.
  • Letter from Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster agreeing to the extension of provisional application of UK-EU Trade and Cooperation Agreement.
  • Draft decision of the UK-EU Partnership Council extending provisional application of the UK-EU Trade and Cooperation Agreement.

UPDATED: Sending goods to the EU through roll on roll off ports or the Channel Tunnel: Guidance on transporting goods to the EU from the UK via these channels has been updated with a new section on Assumed Departure. For more information, click here

  • NEW: Moving goods between Great Britain and France: A recording of the technical webinar hosted on 12 February 2021 is now available to view here
  • NEW: For importers of food and drink products from the EU to GB: New dates have been added for webinars about import of products, animals, food and feed systems (IPAFFS). These webinars are on 4 March and 5 March, and you can sign up for these here

Emissions Trading
UPDATED: Participating in the UK Emissions Trading Scheme (UK ETS): Guidance has been updated in light of the calendar for UK ETS auctions in 2021 being published by the auction platform provider. For more information, click here.

Food and Drink
UPDATED: Food and drink businesses: working with the EU: Guidance has been updated to clarify that in order to trade with the EU without paying tariffs, all goods need to comply with the preferential Rules of Origin. A section has been added to link to the HMRC guidance on this. For more information, click here.

UPDATED: Importing or moving fish into the UK: Guidance has been updated to include a summary of the phased approach that applies to imports from countries in the EU, EEA and EFTA.
