Blues Pair Become Ambassadors For EitC’s 2026 Street Child World Cup Journey

Everton in the Community is delighted to announce the launch of a new project spearheaded by Everton Women’s first team stars Courtney Brosnan and Katja Snoeijs which will see the Club’s official charity represent Team England at next year’s Street Child World Cup (SCWC).

Through the Players’ Project Pilot, EitC will be taking local young people from across Liverpool City Region to North America for the prestigious football event next summer, a region that will also host the 2026 FIFA World Cup taking place later that year.

And thanks to support from the Premier League and Professional Footballers’ Association (PLPFA), Brosnan and Snoeijs will join the team on their journey between now and the start of the SCWC in ambassadorial roles. They will both help to shape the programme on and off the pitch by taking part in a schedule of educational workshops and activities which will compliment a full football programme.

The charity will represent Team England with a new girls’ team as part of the tournament with ten players chosen from EitC’s existing Children and Youth Services.

Blues goalkeeper, Courtney Brosnan said:

“The Street Child World Cups have a life-changing impact on the young people who take part in them and it’s an honour to be able to support EitC’s journey in next year’s tournament. Football has the power to unite diverse communities and shine a light on prevalent social issues which is what this event is all about. I look forward to meeting the girls who will be representing Everton!”

Toffees striker, Katja Snoeijs added:

“It’s great that me and Courtney can use our platforms to inspire the charity’s girls’ team and support their pathway to the 2026 Street Child World Cup. It will be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for them to represent Team England in North America and I’m excited to witness their journey first-hand. Come on you Blues!”

EitC’s Senior Manager of Youth and Support, Anthony Harden commented:

“We’re delighted to have Courtney and Katja onboard to support our girls’ team in the build-up to next year’s Street Child World Cup. They’re both influential role models for our female participants and having their backing as ambassadors will be incredibly inspiring for them.

“Our players will meet street-connected children from 29 teams across the globe who want an identity, protection from violence, exploitation and access to education. Although the young girls who will represent us will have had different life challenges to their counterparts, they all share a similar mission to reduce violence and exploitation of young people within their city and beyond.

“I’m sure this will be an unforgettable experience for everyone taking part and it will be testament to the participants’ journey with EitC so far. We look forward to announcing the players in due course and hope they create lifelong friendships along the way, develop teamwork and leadership skills and that the tournament will continue to inspire them in the future.”

The Street Child World Cup is a global movement for street children to receive the protection and opportunities that all children are entitled to. Ahead of each FIFA World Cup, Steet Child United brings together street children from across the world to play football, take part in a festival of arts and participate in child-friendly Congress sessions, all designed to empower and champion their rights.
