On the 19th November, the Chamber held its first Construction, Infrastructure & Built Environment Industry Learning Partnership (ILP) at Hugh Baird College. A link to the slides from the session can be found here.
At the event, we heard first-hand from construction, infrastructure and built environment colleagues regarding the gaps, blocks, and challenges in skills and recruitment for the industry and a positive discussion took place between the sector and colleges/Independent Training Providers in the Liverpool City Region.
The intention of the session – and subsequent sessions that follow between now and March 2025 – is to use emerging data from the ILP to signpost and co-create provision that meets skills demands for the sector across the Liverpool City Region, both now and in the future.
A range of actions (grouped under the following headings) emerged from the session and the Chamber is looking forward to working with employers and other key stakeholders to help drive these forward:
• streamlining employer-college communication / investing in centralised data solutions
• developing modular and industry-focused training
• enhancing career engagement
• supporting work placements and apprenticeships
• promoting cross-sector collaboration
More detailed summaries under each of these headings have been developed and interested members should get in touch with the Chamber’s Director of Policy and Skills, Samantha Barker ( samantha.barker@liverpoolchamber.org.uk ) to receive further information.
