Successful new Class 807 Evero launch signals, “landmark moment”

Avanti West Coast launched its new Class 807 Evero train this month on the Liverpool to London line, part of a £350m investment in its fleet, which will help deliver additional rail capacity between the two cities.

This follows the inaugural Class 807 service between London and Birmingham last month, building on the successful launch of the Class 805, which recently celebrated 150 days in service.

Samantha Barker, Director of Policy and Skills and Paul Cherpeau, CEO at the Liverpool Chamber of Commerce were present for the launch, which took place on 11th October and involved a ride and tour of the new service.

Paul said:

“We are particularly pleased that the city’s call to improve the frequency of the services between Liverpool and London has been listened to and acted upon by Avanti West Coast and partners.

“This will create greater opportunities for our businesses to attract talent from a wider catchment area, will support our outstanding visitor and cultural offer and also enable enhanced onward connectivity with other regions and cities across the country. It is another step towards enabling a well-connected City Region, capable of maximising its growth potential.”

Mayor Steve Rotherham called the launch a, “landmark moment for our region,” further commenting that it was a, “huge boost to connectivity and the local economy.”

As the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority consults on its Local Transport Plan (LTP) between now and December, the Chamber is not only keen to talk to as many members as possible about what is working well across the City Region in terms of the transport network and associated infrastructure, but also understand where enhancements or further investments could make a difference to businesses, the future growth of the region and its journey to net zero.
